O’Reilly embraces collaborative writing

I’ve just stumbled upon this article yesterday on “Software Development as Collaborative Writting” from O’Reilly. I think this speaks exactly what is on our minds here at LiveTechDocs. Here is an excerpt from the article:
“Software developers spend enormous amounts of time creatively writing with text, editing, revising, refining multiple interconnected textual works — and often doing so in a highly distributed way with many collaborators. [...] Programmers faced with annoying problems like “how do I make sure that changes I make to this text don’t conflict with someone else’s changes” or “how do I tell who among several writers made a particular change to some text” solved those problems long ago.”
Working in the software industry also brought us face to face with this kind of issues. So we developed this collaborative writing solution based on our own personal experiences with clients, documentation teams, writers, and reviewers.
Although our XML documentation review service is specifically targeted at the technical writing community, this solution will show you a lot about the next generation of collaborative writing tools and the future of publishing.
We built many neat and unique collaborative features such as :
- Review
- Collaboration
- XML Support
- Project Management
- Security
